17a is working to help an organization hire a Senior Director to lead Strategy and Special Projects. The organization is an action oriented non-profit in a major southwestern city, focused on economic mobility.

This role will:

    • Report to and work closely with the CEO of a nationally respected non-profit focused on the advancement of economic mobility
    • Work across the organization with leaders of various programs and initiatives to ensure knowledge transfer and align strategic direction across programs; support other leaders by building better processes to capture and relay strategic and impact oriented information
    • Lead the charge on sharing progress and results with various external partners, including developing the thinking and materials that will best bring the work to life for various audiences
    • Develop and implement comprehensive strategies across multiple stakeholder groups who support and advance the organization’s mission to implement equity-oriented, impact-driven programs


This is a full-time, salaried role based in a major southwest city with competitive benefits including health, dental benefits and a 401k matching program.

Total compensation for the role is $125k – $150k, with range depending on experience.

The organization observes 11 paid holidays, has a flexible vacation policy, and offers a hybrid work environment.

Core Responsibilities

  • Operationalizing ideas into strategy, plans and actions
  • Cross-team and cross-functional collaboration to ensure knowledge transfer across relevant stakeholders and initiatives
  • Creating materials (including PowerPoint decks and other formats) to convey key strategic updates and results
  • Playing an integrative strategic role to the leader of a highly visible organization in the economic mobility field


  • Ability to start in mid to late spring 2024, on-site with the team
  • Minimum 20 months management consulting experience
  • Must be excited about working as part of a broader team, and thinking creatively about effective, equity-driven solutions
