17a is looking for a Head of Talent to lead the development of 17a’s people strategy and build out the people management function of our business.  We are working to professionalize the path for more, excellent, high talent people to work on public problems. The Head of Talent will be responsible for working directly with 17a leadership and strategic partners to design and build a recruiting, staffing and career development function that enables us to achieve that goal.  

17a’s approach to hiring and recruiting is a core part of our core strategy and growth - our model includes the management of a large network of professionals as well as  a high volume of contractor-based staffings. The Head of Talent will be responsible for the operations and growth of that network, and will be a member of the 17a leadership team.

Given our size, the Head of Talent can work remotely and in a 50% role.

 

 

Head of Talent

Key responsibilities:

  • Work as a core member of the 17a leadership team, to align recruiting, staffing and people development operations with long term 17a strategy

  • Lead the growth of  17a’s talent network, including

    • Designing and implementing recruiting strategies to attract more top talent to 17a projects, and public service delivery work generally

    • Continuously improving assessment and staffing processes to better align with quality and impact for 17a clients, partners and team members

    • Managing recruiting and staffing operations to cut down on staffing timelines, optimize interactions with candidates and improve the overall efficiency of the recruiting and staffing process

    • Building out supports focused on team-member experience and professional development, specifically designed around the 17a contractor model

  • Lead efforts to further embed 17a as the best resource for helping  top talent navigate professional paths in the public problem solving ecosystem

17a is a boutique consultancy focused on improving public service delivery – using a combination of classic management consulting tools and more out-of-the-box solution design and development. We regularly partner with groups who have the potential to improve public sector service delivery, including public sector agencies, technology/data science companies, large corporates and the investment community.
